Summer workshops / Talleres de verano

Con el final del verano, la vida vuelve a la normalidad y, con ella, los blogs. Con este primer post de la vuelta al cole quería contaros mi experiencia en dos talleres a los que he tenido la oportunidad de ir este verano: un taller de carvado de sellos con Ishtar Olivera y el workshop que hizo Tim Holtz en Inglaterra a finales de agosto (sí, yo tampoco puedo creérmelo todavía pero conseguí plaza y pude ir, increíble).

It’s the end of the summer and everything goes back to daily life, also the blogs. In this first post I just want to share my experience in two workshops where I have had the chance to go this summer: One stamp carving with Ishtar Olivera and the workshop that Tim Holtz taught in UK at latest august (yes, I even can’t believe that I could be there, but I got it, unbelievable).

El primero fue el de carvado de sellos con Ishtar en Junio, ya sólo la disposición del material y el entorno invitaban a crear: El taller se dividió en dos partes, la primera eran las nociones básicas del carvado de sellos y duró unas 3 horas. Es increíble lo que es capaz de hacer Ishtar, cómo enseña y el cariño que transmite. Aprendimos muchísimo y nos quedamos con más ganas de seguir carvando. El resto del taller estuvimos practicando y aprendiendo a utilizar nuestros sellos para decorar, cuadernos, tarjetas…

The first workshop was the one about stamp carving with Ishtar Olivera in June. Everything was perfect for creating: the workspace with the tools, the stamps, people… The workshop was divided in two learning areas: the first three hours she taught us how to carve stamps; it’s amazing what can Ishtar create, how well she teaches and the love for what she does that she transmits. We learn a lot and we were left with the desire to keep on carving. The other three hours we were practicing how to use our stamps and decorate with them notebooks, tags…

He de decir que el dinero gastado en el taller mereció la pena y el gasto totalmente amortizado; fue un taller muy útil, aprendí desde cero y sobre todo, fue muy muy inspirador. Llegué a casa con un par de sellos hechos por mi, una libreta y unas tarjetas preciosas y unas ganas de carvar que todavía no se han ido. Tengo un montón de borradores esperando a ser carvados y un montón de diseños para carvar en mi cabeza, de hecho, aquí os enseño los primeros diseños que he dibujado y carvado yo, así que son totalmente míos. Espero que os gusten.

I must say that the money spent worth it, it was a very useful workshop, I learnt from zero and, above all, it was actually inspiring. I went back home with a couple of stamps, one beautiful notebook, some lovely tags and a huge need to keep carving. Now I have around 50 erasers waiting for being carved and a a lot of designs in my head; in fact, here you can find the first designs that I have drawn and carved, so I can say that they are actually my stamps. I hope you like them.

El workshop de Tim Holtz fue a finales de agosto en Coventry (UK), se tituló «Journey of the past» y en él hicimos un miniálbum utilizando tanto los productos de siempre (tintas distress, sellos, tags…) como los nuevos (los distress markers, las plantillas de stencil, distress ink…). El taller duró 3 horas que fueron muy intensas y productivas, me llevé a casa el álbum prácticamente terminado con tags incluidas y un montón de material que nos regalaron, un libro firmado por Tim… Me siento muy gradecida de haber podido tener la oportunidad de recibir una clase de Tim Holtz, que los astros se aliasen para que pudiese ir y de haber conocido allí a gente fantástica y muy creativa. Confirmado, Tim Holtz es Tim Holtz no sólo por lo creativo de sus productos, es un gran profesor y sus cursos son increibles: divertidos, productivos, inspiradores…

Tim Holtz’s workshop was in the final days of August at Coventry (UK). It was called «Journey of the past» and there we created a minialbum using all Tim Holtz products, the classic ones (distress inks, stamps, tags…) and the new ones (distress markers, stencils, distress inks…). The workshop took us 3 hours and they were very intense and productive, I finished with a lovely minialbum (tags included), a huge amount of Ranger things that the organization gave us and one book signed by Tim. I feel really grateful to have had the chance to be in a Tim Holtz’s class and to have meet great and really creative people. Now I can confirm you that Tim Holtz is who he is not only for being so so creative, but also for being such a great teacher and make his workshops in something so amazing: funny, productive, inspiring…

En conclusión estoy mucho más que satisfecha con los dos talleres que he recibido este año y se los recomiendo a todo aquel que pueda asistir a cualquiera de ellos: que no pierda la oportunidad y verá cómo no se arrepiente.

Concluding, I am more than satisfied with the workshops where I have been this summer and I recommend both of them to all those who have the chance to go: don’t loose the opportunity and you’ll see that you don’t regret.
